Will a wiper switch from any '64 GM car fit my '64 driver, or is that switch exclusive to the vette parts bin?

Re: '64 Wiper Switch
Brian----
The wiper switch for 1963-1964 Corvettes, GM #1993543, is not the same as for 1964 passenger cars. However, it IS the same as 1959-63 passenger cars with 2 speed wipers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

One more Problem!
My right brake lights will not work (drivers side OK). The lights work normal with the headlights on, but the brake lights will not work on that side. I thought it may be a ground but the running lights are operating. Bulbs check out OK. The power feed wire from the pedal switch appears OK. Any thoughts?- Top

'64 Wiper Switch - Why?
You didn't say why you queried wiper switch interchange. If wipers don't start/stop properly, it's unwise to assume the switch is flakey. The shop manual advises to make sure the switch is tightly in contact with the instrument panel (common ground for wiper/washer feed to relay internal to wiper assy). Then, they give a NEAT troubleshooting discussion on how to disconnect the wiper motor, use jumper wires to 'force' the wiper/washer operation, and diagnose whether the problem lies in the switch or the wiper/washer assy itself....- Top

Re: '64 Wiper Switch - Why?
Well, This car has never been in the rain and I went to a car show some miles away. Of course it rained! The wipers worked OK that day, but they usually won't park once the switch is off (my '62 Belair did the same). While it was raining on my vette (which leaked!) I noticed the switch was a little loose in the dash. I moved the switch a little from the back and the tempo of the wipers picked up to the higher speed. Later when I got home, I figured I would tighten the switch, at that point it fell apart in my hand! I put it back together, but it is not the same. Hence my tale of woe and need for another switch!- Top

Re: One more Problem!
The parking lights and the turn signals work. I assume that the brake lights and turn signals share the same ground. Could I be wrong? I've traced the wiring from the brake light switch to where it runs into a bundle of wires under the dash. There are two leads that run from the brake light switch. One for power and the other leads to the bundle of wires for the lights. Should there be two wires off the switch feeding the brake lights for each side?- Top
