1. Make sure clutch pedal pivot shaft bushings (up inside pedal support) are in good condition and are well-lubricated (Lubriplate, etc.).
2. Captured bushing in good condition where pedal pushrod attaches to the top lever on the cross shaft.
3. Ditch the "Godzilla spring" and replace with a conventional return spring to the firewall a la C2.- Top

Re: Godzilla spring
Just unbolt the upper bracket (2 bolts) from the upper arm on the cross shaft, and replace with a coiled return spring anchored to the top bolt hole on the lever and to the firewall. C2's use a neat little hook to anchor the firewall end of the spring under a bolt head. All the spring has to do is to hold the pedal up against the rubber stop bumper on the pedal support. The Rube Goldberg "over-center pedal assist" arrangement isn't required with contemporary clutches, and can cause problems with them. It's a simple "put-back" if you want to have the car judged.- Top
