    Probably The Town Sawbones...

That owned the Corvette...Outfitters are more apt to think of GI Hummers or old Dodge Power Wagons as cool cars.

Idaho Records only go back to 1981

I called Idaho DMV and they do not show any records for my VIN so there is no
point in sending in any title search form at this point. The clerk indicated
all records prior to 1981 were purged from the system.

It looks like I need the information from Alan Landeen on previous owners
before I can continue my search.

        Re: Probably The Town Sawbones...

I was just thinking of a way to meet someone from Timmins face-to-face. Not implying that they owned the car.

I don't think Timmins is big enough for anything but a GP.

why do present owners want to find the orignal owners because you may find out that your $60,000 435 hp corvette was a base engine car in the beginning. if the orignal owner wanted to find out who has the car now he can do it if he has the VIN # because the current owners VIN# "should" still be the same.

A passion or a sickness; it's all the same

I have two reasons why I want to know. I hope I don't get too philosophical for some.

I think you can call one of them "a passion", in my case. My family certainly doesn't understand it and probably considers it "a sickness". I have every bit of information possible on my 2001. If I could have watched the car being built or help build it on the assembly line and taken delivery at the Museum, I would have. Life's too short not to enjoy the great opportunities in life. Some are few and far between.

For this project I say, "Bring it on!" I think I can take the good news with the bad news. This brings me to my second reason. I can't speak for others on the message board but the history information that I discover will greatly influence my restoration plans if I know what was done to the car, when, and why. You can't get that from simple observation. An example: When I had one of my experts look at the car he noticed that the body had probably been removed at one time. The information I got this week indicated that the owner in Timmins, Ontario mostlikely did a restoration on the car. Based on that information and whatever else I discover assuming I talk to that owner, I may or may not do a complete frame-off restoration. (i.e., can the stress on the materials support another restoration?)

The answer may be similar to anyone who has a passion for fine art or great food. I certainly don't understand those people and how they think.
