The 1966 Judging Guide (p. 41) specifies the etched coding on the glass should be an “LOF” logo, “SAFETY PLATE”, and a manufacturer’s date code. The manual also refers to a manufacturer’s code (ex. M54). Is this the date code or is the date code the same as the windshield code for both the side and vent glass? In 1965 and 66 these codes were two letters, ex. 65 – NJ through VJ and 66 – NA through VA.
Mfgr code is different from date code. The date code is the dual alpha sequence that's defined in the JG book tables. Mfgr code identifies who built the glass, in this case LOF....
Dave -- the M54 manufacturer's code (found under the "solid tempered" line) was independent of the 2-letter date code. Date codes are same for windshield, side windows and vent windows.
Sounds like you have a '66, but my early '65 (tinted) coupe has NO manufacturing (M54) code on the rear glass [JG]; none on the left side [IG], and probably none on the right side [UG]. I say probably, because the stencil was etched so low on the glass that it could be buried in the channel. My late (tinted) '65 convert. DOES have the M54 on the side window [IJ](singular, as only my RH is original). The vent windows, both early and late, have the M54 on the 3 out of 4 that are original.
