Do you know if the stub axle diameter for the Dana 36 rear is same/similar to the C2 axles? I'm wondering if the 96 snap rings (.050" - .080") would be useable in the C2 Eaton units. I haven't measured the groove width, but one of my snap rings is .059 and the other is .063. Changing snap rings for final adjustment would sure be a lot easier than yo-yoing the springs and gears to change shims.

      PS

Does your manual give a part # for the Model 36 snap rings? I called a Chevy dealer, and he had a part # for a kit that contains 14 snap rings (2 of each thickness), but he didn't have any specs on ring or shaft groove diameter.

        Steve:

The clutch plates MUST be lubed during assembly with a mixture of gear oil + Special Posi Additive. When I fill the diff, I double up on the recommended amount of additive. Use the GM posi additive, from your friendly GM dealer.

Service manuals never have part numbers. Suggest you start a new thread
asking for part number data. Joe L. can probably help out.

Steve I do not know the answer to your question. I have owned Corvettes since 68 and have not had to get into the rear-ends. I do have parts books and owner manuals for 64, 69-70, 71, 85, and 96. I just wonder of Dana Corp would be able to answer this question?
