Hello,
My '66 has Dunlop Axiom II's on it right now 215 70 R15 and I want to go to a Goldline. I was going to get Pirelli P4000's and have the stripe put on but Diamondback no longer let's you send tires in to have the stripe applied. The tire they recommend is a Firestone Supreme Si and I was wondering if anyone has these on their car and can recommend them. It seems like a lower end tire which is what is on the car now. Other options are something like an Eagle GA or Firestone Firehawk. I don't know if there are any quality or safety concerns with the Firestones after the past problems they have had. The car does not get driven hard, so I'm not sure if I should be concerned with the speed rating. Diamondback seems to feel that the S rated supreme is more than adequate but after reading all the posts here on the board and the article in the restorer I have my doubts. Any advice?
My other question is has anyone gone from 215 70 R15 to 205 75 R15 that could share their experience as far as ride and handling differences?
Thanks,
Ian
