Re: Non Vette Question - Brake Fluid & Powersteeri

"...any difference in color of the fuid near the top of the bowl...he says there is no discernible difference."

Mostly dark brown to black, huh? It sounds like the power steering fluid has either mixed or gone to the bottom. If he can get the system flushed quickly, he may be OK; otherwise, he might have to rebuild the MC. I would disconnect the lines at the wheels and plug them to insure contaminated fluid doesn't get into the wheel cylinders and flex hoses; that would isolate the damage to the MC.

The rubber MC cover material probably has immunity to hydrocarbon exposure under the hood, so those should be OK.

Nice old trucks. I have seen two or three restored and driving around town here.

        I'm Thinking That...

Restoring one of those beasts must be about like restoring a C1 Corvette, Dennis. Simple, basic technology from a bygone era.

Actually it is a pretty cool vehicle. Toyota based the engine on the chevy straight six and a number of parts are interchangeable.

            Definitely old school technology.

You can flush the system with denatured alcohol
