Were the original 1957 Brake Linings (front and rear) Riveted or Bonded to the Shoes?

What type of Brake Fluid should be used, Silicone or otherwise (DOT 4 or DOT 5)?

Bob -

The original linings were bonded to the shoes - functionally, it makes no difference whether they're bonded or riveted. Fluid selection is always an exciting discussion topic - you'll find lots of material in the archives; personally, I prefer DOT3/4 glycol-based conventional fluid.

Bob,

If your system has conventional brake fluid in it them use DOT-3 or 4. Dot-5 is silcone and should not be mixed with conventional fluids. If your system currently has DOT-5 silicone then that is your only choice.
