    Go with Barrett-Jackson

Roy, I advertised my '67 (that I originally bought in 1980) in the August issue of Driveline and received several calls, most of which were from individuals wanting to chat. Others were photo collectors. Two seriously interested parties had local people inspect the car to see if it warranted a flight to Florida. Although they both whined about shipping costs, they were further interested. Because of the recent hurricanes stretching over 6-7 weeks, we were never able to set a date for them to come down. Since then, I haven't returned calls or e-mails from anyone regarding the car and my interest in selling it has diminished. If I do end up selling it, I will probably go with the Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson auction in March. Good luck with yours. Jim Weeks - Member #2978.

Re: Truer words were never spoken

[ital]Many things in life are much more important to me than my cars, and while I might miss them if they were gone it sure wouldn't "weigh heavy" or "ride hard" on me. [/ital]

True, given the importance of many things and the cars, many other things come into play much above the cars.

But cars are important to most of us, enough that we hate to see our blood, sweat, and tears abused or tossed aside like nothing.

As to my friend with the Harley, I think as much as the bike was the fact he sold the bike to the guy, and the guy died as a result, so he blamed himself that if he hadn't sold it, the guy might not have died.

Granted I think you can't live your life that way, but some do. Heck, you loan someone a pencil and they fall and poke out an eye, or stab themselves in the heart, should you never loan another pencil?

You trade in a car to a dealer, the dealer sends it to an auction, someone buys it and is hit by a drunk driver, then should you never trade in a car?

But buying and selling to friends I tend to avoid, because if the truth be known, your friend probably worries constantly about what you have done to his car. And I don't need the hassle of a friend thinking a year later that I knew that rod would let go on his 400th pass down a country quarter or from a stoplight grand prix and somehow cheated him.

Just because you sell it to an NCRS member who makes you feel all warm and fuzzy DOESN'T meen he'll keep it! Many NCRS members buy and sell Corvettes to make a profit. You may just see "your" car at the very next auction or in the Pro-Team flyer. (For all the lawyers out there, I LIKE Pro-Team)

I would recommend you sell it to the highest bidder. At the prices that 1967's bring, I doubt you'll have some punk buy it and destroy it. My insurance covers my Corvettes for a song ($250 per year with collision and full coverage) because the loss ratio on old Corvettes is so good - they're usually very defensively driven and only in good weather.

            Re: Read but don't judge

            Roy:

It sounds like your car is really sweet. I would rather have a really pretty Corvette, than a fully documented 327/250 Saddle/Saddle ugly duckling. DO NOT try to sell your beautiful car to a purist(?). You have heard the expression "money talks, and bull***t walks", well, okay IMHO "beauty talks, and paper walks", because any savvy Corvette lover will easily spot a solid (and, I do mean SOLID)car, whether it's pretty or pedigreed.

            Joe

            PS:

I would not advise just any Joe Blow to perform the water upper engine cleaning.

I'm surprised at the response you all are giving. it's clear that your speaking with your heart and common sense. That I really appreciate, I thought I would get a different response. Every thing we now own will be owned by some one els at some point, so you are all correct Thanks ROY

Wayne, You want to sell the 67??

Wayne, you should sell the 67 coupe to me (get it back into the family). I think it was my father who installed the BB hood back in the 70's. I remember riding in the car with my mother and father when I was still too short to see over the dash and those darned screws around the back window pulling my hair out when I stood up in the back (where there are no seats let alone a car seat). Call me if you are interested. 919-332-7577.

                        Roy,

Sell it to me cheap like I did you my 55 years ago. Now here's your chance to make amends for "robbing" me.
