    Thanks Doc Rebuild...

...for your advice and patience! I was able to successfully pull the entire dash out of my 67 coupe. This helped tremendously with rebuild to instr. cluster and heater box. Obviously shot a fews ago before these storms starting hitting the west coast. Cheers!

Thank you for the confidence. Your body

looks trim. My wife saw your 6 pack abs and said mine were more like a beer keg. (The Corvette looks trim too.)

Tell your wife'Thanks" and I'll see you...

Hey Justin, I once looked like that and...

so did my 67. Stay with that project and your 67 will look great too. It is sure nice to see young people like yourself take an interest in these old girls and bring them back to top condition. There is plenty of good advise on this board to help you along. So listen up to someone thats old enough to be your old man, be patient and do it right the first time because doing overs ain't no fun.

I'm going for the 'Sportsman class'

            Wayne,
Yes, I have found a wealth of information on the Forum along with many long-distance friendships. She was heavily neglected and 'Bubba-ized' along the way. I'm putting her back to original except for a few small changes, not really noticeable to the non-NCRS eye. My car is a 327/300hp, but I added the aluminum #490 intake. Also an LT1 cam with 2 1/2" manifolds and exhaust. I added white leather instead of the vinyl to the seats and the rest is stock. Hey Chuck, I had a few discussions with Dick Wittington about this and Sportsman class seems to be the way to go. Any other class and my genitales would be handed back in a plastic CC baggie. I will be driving this alot around here, we have many twisty, canyon roads. I actually see Jay Leno frequently, early on Sundays in one of his many contraptions. Thanks for interest!

Re: Let me guess, red on white

              That WOULD be sweet!

Sportsman class for this kid too.

See I'm focusing on the performance side so that I can go by the NCRS Judges soooo fast that they won't be able to focus on the BC/CC

Na, those Dudes are so good, one would probably pull out a light meter and gauge how many lumens are bouncing back at Em

Re: Let me guess, red on white

Hey Chuckster! Why don't we set up competition within the Sportsman Class for best engine, paint, sell tickets for a "split the pot", and have a poker run! Do you think anybody would mind?

                  Marina Blue with #450 Interior

                  Chuckster,
It has the Blue/white interior, so that's how I am going to keep it. It actually still has the original paint, but Bubba went right over the top of it with primer. There are many uncovered areas that show the original color and paint. Definitely BC/CC Glasurit. I do about 90% of the prep work and my buddy plugs in his gun and shoots it at his shop. We can't buy Lacquer in Calif. and Glasurit requires less upkeep. You can lift the hood or trunk of a Ferrari and look for the Glasurit parrot. My painter explained to me that lacquer properly done with many coats looks insane! Although, it has a bit of maintainance and occasionally has to be repolished to keep that wet look. Like I said in another post, I would get torn apart at judging if it weren't going for the 'Sportsman' class and I'm comfortable with this.

                      Re: Marina Blue you say

When I first started looking for a Vette in my PRE-NCRS days, I came upon a 66 Marina blue coupe with white vinyl interior setting next to a house Waaaaaaay up on a hill away from the road, but just visible.

Found that the only thing not original on the car were the Cragar rims, 411 gears and the 67 427 in it. Other than that, it bone stock original!

Also found out that the car had a drag racing history (with trophys) at Lebanon Valley Race Way in New Hampshire.

The Gent even knew the prior racer/owner who still had the original power plant.

Tried to do a deal with the Gent, but he wanted to use the purchase price of the car to put all three of his kids through college!

Too bad, it was a sweet car with tons of award winning potential.

Drove by there six months later, and both the family and the car were long gone.

All I had to do was set behind the wheel, and I was hooked Justin!

All I got for my efforts was a Polaroid of it which I still have on my bulletin board at work!

                      Oh well, life goes on.

                        Re: Marina Blue I say

                        Chuckster,
My car had been sitting in a muddy field out in Riverside,CA for about 12 years before I bought it. I'm still tracking down previous owners, which I think leads to the East coast. When I pulled the seats last Summer, I found a parking service ticket stub for: 25 Wm T. Morrissey Blvd., Dorchester, Mass. I'm sure this car started out back there.

Lebanon Valley Dragway is in New York. Nice track, and getting nicer. Haven't been there in a few years, but they were doing a lot to bring it up to snuff, and even had a few big names there recently.

                            1) Sorry George, I assumed it was Lebanon N.H. as I was in the middle of V.T. Never been there.

                            2) What color blue(s) DID they offer for 66? It was dark. Nassau?

                              Nassau (66) =Marina (67) blues

                              So does Trophy(66)=Elkhart(67)

Not sure which was the darkest, but I know Marina pretty well.
