    Park brake alarm switch

Pat's park brake switch shown is what I have. The wires are as per my diagram as well. Does it use a seperate flasher for the light?

        Re: Park brake alarm switch

On '61 & "62 cars, the brown wire went directly from the parking brake lever switch to the "flashing" Bulb # 357. I believe earlier cars wired to a tung-sol flasher unit that was mounted above the kick panel, then to the bulb. The brown wire starts from the fuse box.

A comment/question on this post. The 1960 and 1961 Owner manuals indicate a #90 bulb for the parking brake alarm. The 1960 AIM calls for part #131282 bulb (#53 according to my 1961 Chev. parts book). The 1961 AIM does not indicate a bulb (that I can find) and does not indicate FOA 107 Park Brake Alarm option.
I did find part 9412348 #257 w/flasher and part 142453 #90 bulb, (also for park brake alarm) in the 1961 parts book. What is the correct bulb for a 61???

Re: Mine looks a little different...

Pat, on my '58 the flasher is attached to the top of the drivers side kick panel via a small metal clip. It looks like someone used a wire tie to attach yours to the harness. I believe it was the same for both years. Other than that it looks correct.

Larry, the light goes into a hole in the back on the drivers side of the speedo. It's opposite the high beam indicator. There's an indicator that says brake.

                Hope this helps.

                    Joe...

                    Sorry about a typo, the flasher bulb is a #257(#9412348). #57 was for '58 - '59 cars

                        Dennis,
Thanks for the reply. I did not know what the correct bulb is, and was confused because the #90 bulb is listed in the 1961 owners manual, but does not flash.
