    Re: I'm surprised Elm

    Elm -

The connection you're trying to separate is metal-to-metal (rusted together); the "sombrero" cup on the frame is steel, and the mating female part of the cushion is also a steel sleeve, bonded to the cushion. They WILL separate (eventually) with use of liberal amounts of PB Blaster and a BIG pry bar (or big cold chisels used as wedges, driven in with a BIG hammer).

Re: I'll call you Teddy Roosevelt Zobens

      Thanks, I appreciate that Chuck-
It is a sort of an addiction...
I bought this thing last year as a 'daily driver' and a toy to play with and not have perfect so I wouldn't be afraid to drive it to work everyday in the summer- But now I keep finding more things to 'perfect'. LOL
Since I have the whole exhaust and rear end out, how much more work could it be to drop the frame off the body?!
Mmmmnnn Is that the wife holding that shotgun?!
      AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elm, while you are in there be sure to check the sombrero's for cracks. I have seen them cracked around the base on two different cars. My guess is this comes from someone having too much fun with the cars.

            Update:
I *FINALLY* got the cross member out!
I ended up taking everyones advice and bought a bigger crowbar;-)
I picked up a 4 foot 'Gorilla Bar' from the hardware store and I had that puppy off in less than 15 minutes!
The metal cups on the frame were still bright shiny metal- Amazing after 35 years.
Thanks again for all the advice!
            Elm.
