Michael, As you probably aready know, that carb is not from a Vette. At least that is what the NCRS pocket spec says. However, it looks like Carter #s are sequential and date chronological. Sooo, it looks like your carb could be a late 56 or early 57. Could be a Chevy or even a Caddy carb. OR, heaven forbid, a new # for a 57.
By the way, I too have a 57 - 270/283. Bought in 1968 when I was 21.
Hello Michael: The carburetor you have was released for production on the 1957 full size Chevrolet with an automatic transmission. Carter released both carburetors 2505S and later 2505SA for the same application. However, in the “Carter Sales and Service Manual” released March 1957 and revised October 1961, the following special note appears: NOTE: 2655S (limited Production) can use 2505S or 2505SA with (2) 75-1385 rods and (2) 120-186 secondary jets. So it would appear, based on this special note, that you may have the correct carburetor for your car. I would conduct additional research to document this application. Hope this information is useful. Best Wishes, Franz
