Source for '66 headlight wiring harness clips

Does anyone know of a source for the two clips that hold the headlight wiring harness to the underside of the metal reinforcement just in front of the front edge of the hood? The clips have a split barbed point that inserts into a hole in the reinforcement bar and the other end is about 2" long x 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick and the two ends of this side are aligned with the axis of the harness tape and gets wrapped up into the tape. Hard to explain in words. I can't find these two clips in either the Paragon or Long Island Corvette catalogs. Does anyone make a repro?

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Gary,

I'd try Lectric Limited. They make the replacement harnesses - other wise if you found an old repaced harness grab them off of the old harness.

If I understand what you are looking for correctly, the wire clamps that fasten to the header bar are listed in Long Island, sec 4, item 46. I just received some.

Scott: I think we're talking about different ones

        Scott,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the ones you're talking about are the outboard ones that the harness slips into. There are 4 of these, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. These are metal and the part of the clip that the harness slips into are black rubber coated. The 2 clips I'm talking about are inboard of the outer pairs that you're talking about and the ones I'l taking about are all plastic and light gray. I can try and take a photo tonight.

          Yes, different clips.

Yes, I just received the 4 metal clips. I guess I'm not yet aware of the 2 plastic ones you are looking, but I think I will soon be looking for them too...just when I thought I had all the little parts ready to go:)

The clips were GM part number 2977427, mnaufactured inhouse by the former Packard Electric Division, now the Packard Electric Systems group of Delphi Automotive. They used to route small orders via a distributor, Pioneer-Packard at 1-800 Packard, but that was four or five years ago.

Might also check the standard parts catalog at your local Chevy Dealer, or look at where they heep small supplies for the body shop.

Looks like those clips are GM discontinued

                    Bill,

A quick check on gmpartsdirect.com indicates that those clips are discontinued.

Re: Looks like those clips are GM discontinued

Gary, early C3s have the same type harness clip in the radiator support area.

I tried looking specifically for that clip on other GM cars of the same vintage in junkyards without much success. I was able to find harnessess with that type clip, but if the clips weren't already broken, it was likely I would break them in removal just as I broke the originals. I believe I was finally successful in getting two that I needed. The years and exposure to UV light make recovering junkyard specimen of this clip difficult at best.

Years ago, I ran across a small electrical vendor at either Bloomington or Carlise that was selling a clip that was similar, but not identical. I think the vendor name was "Eagle Electrical" or something like that. I don't know if he's still in business, or sells the clip now that many of those old parts are discontinued. As I recall, it was clear or white, and shaped a little differently on the harness flange. If painted flat black and wrapped into the harness, it would be nearly undetectable once the harness was installed. You might keep an eye out for him...maybe someone else knows who I'm talking about.
