The 1984-1986 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide, First Edition states:
"1984 and 1985 optional top is one piece removable and transparent smoked gray RPO CC3."
When my 1985 was last flight-judged, the judges noticed that my top had a blue tint (I agree that it does) and deducted for originality . Since than , I have asked non-leading questions (both in this forum and in other on-line forums) about what color folks with an 1984 or 1985 think their transparent top is and by far and away the most common answer is 'blue' or 'blueish'. I think my top is original - it has the specified metal molding, and it has the correct markings and reasonable Julian date. Moreover, my 1985 was not the best cared for in its early life and I honestly don't see effort being put into replacing the transparent top early on.
What should I do? I'm having the car flight judged again this weekend...
