    Great American paid promptly

I had one of those bizarre situations where the hood of my split window was open at a shot and the sun reflected underneath and torched the Sebring Silver paint on the surface. After I explained this goofy story over the phone I expected the worst. They paid promptly the price of the shop I wanted to use, no questions asked. I have a '63 SWC, a '58 and a '66 Mustang roadster with Great American.

American Collectors has my vote and support. A little over two years ago my garage sustained a major fire from an electrical short in the attic. Long story short it destroyed my first '70 numbers matching Corvette convertible and all my hard to find parts. American Collectors paid off within two weeks of the fire plus it had an inflation clause so I got an extra $1000. Two weeks after I got the check I found and purchased a 1970 LS-5 convertible with identical options as my burned up one had.
Besides the Corvette I also own a '66 Impala SS396 convertible and full coverage on both--total--is just under $400 per year.

That "fewer restrictions" can be read right on the Hagerty web site, and they (Hagerty) were the least restrictive of the bunch when I did my own little "beauty contest" a few years back. Not sure how Grundy currently might stack up though.

"Flexible Usage. Drivers can enjoy their classics with comfortable limits. Our program allows for an occasional leisure drive, not just to parades or car events." - Hagerty web site

That is very surprising that you had trouble with Chubb/Grundy. I am in the insurance business, and I have my 63 SWC and a mint 69 GTO Judge with Chubb. They are known in the insurance business as one of the best claims settlement companies you can get. I have my homeowners and auto ith Chubb. Last year I had a $7500 picture window claim in my house. I had a check in 2 days without even having an adjuster come out.

FYI, Federal Insurance Company is one of many companies in the Chubb group.

That is interesting. When I went to insure a '79 last summer, they definitely listed 2500 miles limitation and that primary use had to be shows, club events, and other use in line with a collector car.

Now here is an intersting note. I ran the free quotes just for fun just now.

            Hagerty
            10k/20k 10k/20k
            1979 Corvette 1968 Corvette
            value $8000 $30,000
            premium - $170 $242

            Grundy
            300k
            1979 Corvette 1968 Corvette
            value $8000 $30,000
            premium - $111 $241.50

While there is a big difference in the '79, the '68 is only 50 cents difference.
