C2 gas tank sending unit

I purchased a "supposedly" made in the USA gas tank sending unit for my 1965 vette. When I installed it in the tank and put the retainer on I didn't have enough room to install my original wiring harness to the S and I terminals on the sending unit. Has anyone else had this problem? I have installed my original sending unit in my old tank and in my new correct repro tank with no problems, however my original unit finally died and I had to get a new one.

If I have to purchase another sending unit, who has the best one that will install,connect and work correctly?

It is my impression that the units with yellow floats and screens are made by GM. I just bought two from Quanta. The first one was not soldered where the outlet tub passes through the baseplate. The second one was soldered and installed easily and works. I have only put in a 1/4 of a tank of gas, so I can not was how it reads when full.
