Hi, everyone...I am relatively new to the hobby and only fair with mechanicals. I have lost brake pedal pressure on my 69 BB. I have standard brakes and the car is number and date correct.
To make a long story short, I traced the problem to a leak at the driver rear caliper. The calipers are Delco-Moraine and do not have SS sleeves. They appear to be fully date and number correct for the year. I am using DOT 3 fluid.
Questions are:
1. If I replace all 4 with rebuilt calipers with SS sleeved pistons, what on the calipers are judged re: originality? I was going to redo the entire brake system with matched rebuilt SS sleeved calipers and convert the fluid to silicone. Will this result in point deducts? What is critical to maintain in terms of originality on the calipers?
2. One thought was to pull the calipers and Master Cylinder and send them out to be rebuilt but cannot find anyone locally to do this kind of work. Any suggestions??
2. I was also going to replace the master cylinder, but am hesitating for the same reasons as the calipers...Thoughts?
