On my 61, when I pull the T handle up to shift to reverse the left side piece on the handle falls away from the handle. How is that piece fasten to the handle? Thanks for the help, Joe

Re: C1 SHIFTER
Should be a fairly easy repair. You'll probably have to find a machinist to fab a correct apearing rivet and maybe to drill out the old one.- Top

Re: C1 SHIFTER
I've used a thin nail---peened the one end. It's below the shifter boot, so it's not visible. GM used a pin (I wouldn't call it a rivet)--just peened on each end. Vette Products of Lake Orion, MI, make the reproduction shifter assmblies, and I'm sure of yu talk to Mike Mahowski there, he can get you that pin.- Top

Re: C1 SHIFTER
Mike , I think the cable is bad also. (I think it is a reverse cable?) Maybe I would be better off buying a shifter reverse lockout T handle w/cable? Thanks for the help. Joe- Top

Re: C1 SHIFTER
There is no reverse cable. Inside the sheet metal housing is a pull down spring. Mine was broken in a couple places and the reversed lock out would not come off when shifting to first from reverse. had to bang the shifter to get it to drop out.
Vette products sells the spring also.- Top
