I have been dealing with Long Island for years and have never had a problem. I simply fax my orders in and they promptly arrive within a few days exactly like I ordered them. They are a "NO FRILLS" vendor that sells great parts and provides great service. No problems here !
I was satisfied with LIC. I even got Richard to give me some advice on who else I could talk to about a problem (installation issue) I was having with a part I bought from him. The daughter did chew me out one day for having a wrong part number - thought I might have been talking to my wife.
I met Brian McHale at the Vettehead feast and drinkfest at Carlisle and respect his opinion (he is a good cook atleast). At Carlisle next year I will have to ask him what happened.
I'd give em a second chance. It's not like he or she was standing around waitng for your call. Try to see their side they may have 3 customers standing in front of em. Kid pulling on his coat and the phone rings. I'd call back try to rectify the problem if they refuse then I'd blow em off. My experience has always been VERY professional but they do expect the caller to know what they want. Good luck.
Very well said! The "Soup ****" analogy is spot on. I have always found LICS to be the best vendor for Midyear parts. Fast delivery, never out of stock, and most often best reproductions available. Bonus: if Richard just happens "to be in a good mood", he might even answer your question (only if it is not a stupid one).
Bottom line:
If you want fast delivery
If you don't want to hear "out of stock"
If you enjoy using a "moron proof" catalog
If you know EXACTLY what you want
If you are not the "sensitive" type, nor "faint of heart"
and, most importantly
If you "GIVE THE PART NUMBERS.......JUST THE PART NUMBERS" (like Joe Friday says)
Then LICS is for you.
PS: When you talk about "cultural factors", then don't forget about New Jersey, too. Actually, it is pronounced "New Joysey". Why? Well, because the lion's share of working class NYC residents moved there during the last 40 years, as a result of the slow deterioration of our once-beautiful town since the cultural collapse that began in the mid-sixties. As a result, these displaced New Yorkers have spread their blight on the "greater New York area" which includes about 50 percent of New Joysey. So now, when folks in "Joysey" ask, "how are things" the reply is usually: "SNAFU".
How do I know all of this, you might ask? Well, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and am a contributor to the blight, which is now New Joysey.
I had the most nightmare with LIC for parts, when I was restored my 63 , maybe I'am a Canadian, maybe they think we don't know anything about Corvette, they would srew up my order, sent me the wrong parts, and when I try to sent them back was another nightmare, now there refusing to sell me parts, I said fine there not the only supplyer around I.am restoring two more complete mid year Corvette and like Brian says there not going to get one more cent from me.
