    Not part of vacuum system

This 68 wiper door works as it is supposed to. I thought it may be some part on the back of the cluster that had fallen off and had a high attrition rate at getting lost so you rarely see one. Like seat belt carpet grommets, elusive but they had them. Or a 3x2 AC solenoid bracket. Or coelecanth.

              Geoffrey------

This might not be a Corvette part, at all. Perhaps, it fell off something else you had in the car.

There's also a more sinister possibility. "Brand X" might have surreptiously deposited it in your car with the hopes that you'd find it and repro it. Then, they could include a box in their catalog saying that you repro parts that are not even Corvette parts and sell them as Corvette parts.

                Geoffrey,

Is it possibly the cap from the odometer reset button?

I have a very similar looking part. It either came from my 72 coupe or 80 coupe. As I recall it covered one of the screw or nut heads that was part of the detachable T-Top.
