Re: Who'll Walk Who?? In What Order?
After my 63 Plymouth lost it's 426 I installed a 413 and ran Class A stock
(Michigan state Police cars used it)
If memory serves me, A stock included 406 Ford, 409 Chevy, 421 Pontiac and 401 Buick. I was never beat in my class (didn't race against other Mpars because 426 was AA stock).
At the 1965 AHRA 1/8 mile race in Pacific MO I was racing the final race for Top Stock elimination against a new Corvette. With a spot of about 2 1/2 car lengths and my 456 gears I jumped him off the line for another couple of car lengths. With his apparent high gears and street tires, it took him until about 20 feet from the finish line to blow past me like I was sitting still.
In a quarter mile I would have been embarrassed.
No question in my mind.
