I was going to join the thread further down, but as annoyed as several of us about this weekend, I thought it would be better to put it up top where all of NCRS can find it.
The judging fields were great. Lot of people, lot of nice cars, some good weather, and so on.
The bad part was the swap and car corral. When the auction left, the swap and car corral were not worth a $5 entry fee, plain and simple. Friends in both areas were not selling well at all. Saturday looked busy, but really wasn't. One friend described the people coming to look as cars as tire kickers. Very few cars sold.
When the auction was at the same place, people looked in the auction, saw the car they wanted would be up for bid in the afternoon, and would stroll around the car corral to see what else was for sale. This made the car corral not worth the $100 fee. In fact, Florida NCRS should be ashamed at how they gouged the vendors especially with this event.
Of course, in discussion with several NCRS members, gouging seems to be an NCRS trait.
Yes, someone will say they had no control over the construction, but they either should have worked a deal for the use of the land this one last weekend (no construction took place all weekend) or moved. Having them separate sucks. And I talked to many vendors who do not plan to come back if it is split next year.
