Re: Is the engine a restamp?

I thought a Corvette could not attain Bloomington Gold with a restamped engine?

Unless they want a Silver, or if Bloomington could actually be "convinced" in some way ($$) to make an exception, why would they take it to Bloomington for evaluation?

    ...just askin'

"I thought a Corvette could not attain Bloomington Gold with a restamped engine?"

Another old wife's tale... The key operative for both organizations (about 50% of the judges at NCCB/Bloomington ARE members of NCRS) is DETECTABLE when it comes to restamping. If the 'stamp job' falls within the sphere of 'typical factory production' norms, including stamp pad broach marks, a 'good' restamp will fly through judging with no deduction(s) in both organizations.

The key difference is NCRS is more liberal in scoring. We allow a significant degree of 'partial credit' for replacement engines (see the NCRS Judging Reference Manual), while NCCB/Bloomington 'boxes' the car out. That means, if the engine stamp pad is determined to be outside typical factory production norms, the highest final award that car can receive is a Silver Certificate regardless of its bottom line judging score.
