    Re: new engine parts help

    Thanks for the sticker-shock! Let me re-phrase or clarify what I meant to say: I want to keep the motor in a stock-spec. configuration. ie - no big cam, no messing with the compression ratio, no breakerless ignition. With that in mind, I guess when a car is judged, there is no way for a judge to confirm that the motor is truly OEM stock, internally. I won't be spending the prices you posted, but I will be buying components with the same or as close as possible specs. Mark

      That's different. In that case, use Federal Mogul/Speed-Pro/TRW/Fel-Pro (all just one big company now) for just about everything. I would recommend the following exceptions, though:

      1) Camshaft. Since the GM cam is still available, I'd use it. While it GM lists for about $185, you should be able to buy it for #135. That's not that much more than aftermarket, so I'd go with GM on that one;

      2) Lifters. I like GM lifters the best, especially with a GM cam. The GM #5232720 lifters are also known as Delco HL66. You can buy them as a set and at a Delco parts system savings;

      3) Timing Set. I'd recommend Cloyes True Roller #9-3100. If you want to stay "stock", use Federal Mogul or Cloyes stock replacement Morse-style set but with iron cam sprocket. Cloyes p/n for the 3 piece set is C-3001;

      4) Cam bearings. Use DuraBond
