    Engine identification

    Gentlemen,
I am starting a thread here to help determine the possibitly of something very abnormal. This is not meant to trick or deceive anyone so please do not misinterperet my effort. That being said, I am posting an image of an oil pump. Any suggestions as to what it is in?
    Have fun

Do you have another picture from a bit further back?

          Re: Engine identification

I must be missing something important because all I see so far is what appears to be a 66-67 4 bolt big block. The oil line and fitting appears to possibly be the 68 and newer nylon instead of steel 65-67 but difficult to tell in the pic. ???

I have no clue whatsoever. But I'm glad your camera lens lived to take another shot, that hanging oil drop in pic #1 looks ominous.....

I am of the firm belief this pan was never off. Look at the lead seeping out of the gaskets. When was the last time you saw that?

Ok, looked like a dirty nylon line with 68 and later style fittings. Wonder why the battery cable is on the left side. Is this a 66-67 block in a C3? We all must be missing something really big here.

Mike, you are close but it is not in a C3. This engine has never left the car.
                    Wanna try again?

Hope someone else can spot something here because I don't see anything wacko. I do wonder about the round head flat blade screws in the oil pump but I can't remember for sure what style was original for 66 and later. I have to believe this is not 65 because the casting # on the pump cover is too high numerically. Has to be 66 and later.

It appears the pan was never off. I am unsure about the oil pump. Interesting. Actually, there is nothing odd so far. Appears to be a regular Hi performance 4 bolt engine. Here is what we are looking at. See picture. The suprise is coming!

I was about to say that the oil looks milky, but then, it has been a long time since seeing lead in a system.
