Okay my fan clutch went out and took out the radiator and the fan shroud. I had the radiator recored, got a new fan clutch and fan, but the fan shroud is missing some pieces and needs to be replaced. The one that came out of my car, "that I'm not sure is stock", has a gm part number on it of 3956119. The shroud actually looks like it has been carved to fit by a torch on the top side. My question is, is this the right part for this car? I haven't been able to find a replacement and the paragon book shows something else that doesn't look like the shroud I have. Anyone know for sure?

Re: 69 435hp fan shroud?
George:
That shroud was used on big blocks from 69-72 but included a fan shroud extension carrying part number GM# 3956089. Search the archives and you should discover how these were configured and today's availability.Tom Russo

Re: 69 435hp fan shroud?
Maybe Joe will chime in on this one, but the shroud was available from GM not too long ago. The extension has been long discontinued, but is available from vendors such as Shermershiem's in IndianaDick Whittington- Top

Several considerations here...
Like 'Uncle Dick' says, the original extention has been long discontinued, so absent a windfall find at a swap meet, you'll have to settle for a reproduction. Complete reproductions (shroud and extention) are listed in the Corvette Central catalog and should only take minor deduction(s) on the judging field (specific color of the fiberglass and perhaps size/placement of identifying marks).
Even with original parts from GM, there's a subtle difference in fiberglass color between factory original parts and later era service replacement parts that can generate deductions based on FINISH...
One caveat: my '71 SB has the factory original shroud but was missing its lower extention. Seems many prior owners/mechanics removed the extention and simply 'pitched' them... So, I ordered a repro extention.
Now, maybe it actually fits in the cut out for the repro shroud, but it did NOT fit the factory original shroud! I had to trim material from the sides and corners to 'shoe horn' the sucka in....- Top

Re: The picture you show is NOT a 119 shroud
Good catch Doc. Apparently he copied the picture above the listings for shrouds. The picture of the #458 looks correct for 69-72 and probably looks like the ones you have on the shelf.Dick Whittington- Top
