    If memory serves me I removed the old plating (which was pretty well gone anyway) by simply wire wheeling. I use my drill press set at a medium speed and put the wire wheel on an arbor and mount it in the chuck. Any rust I would remove by soaking in phosphoric acid.

      You will never get the correct color on a Qjet body using Caswell Yellow Chromate. Qjet bodys are cast from (Zamak3) which is a zinc Alu. composition. Rochester used a Zinc Dichromate Conversion solution to put this color on. This was used to protect the casting from corrosion. The other products should work fine there is a lot more to it than people think. Hope this helps
