    Trans hump

    I'm restoring a 54 that was a small block V8.

The trans hump has been modified to accomodate the BW T-10 4 speed. Does anyone have some good pix of how the original hump looks?

if old bubba, who installed the t-10, didn't modify/remove the 54 style shifter area of the tunnel, you'll not have a big problem . i suspect the t10 4 speed hole cut in your floorpan is far enough removed from the original 54 shifter location that simply filling bubba's hole wigood luck, miketh resin and cloth will solve your problem.

Thanks Mike and Wayne. Bubba also added a blow proof bell housing to the car, and I suspect that he enlarged the whole hump to accomodate the larger bellhousing. Oh well, no one said that this would be easy!

if you have to replace the tranny tunnel, i'd look around for a used oriiginal. 54 carcusses show up at carlisle on occassion. also suggest ya put an ad in the driveline.mike

Joe, I have the same problem with a '55 I'm putting back together, I believe Corvette America carries a replacement trans hump, goes for around $160.00.
Mine is not too butchered, I have a '54 at the National Auto Museum that I can inspect and take measurements from....

Mike, can that hump be easily replaced???? I'm a bit of a fiberglass novice and am wondering if I can do this myself. "Talk me off the ledge".

              Much appreciate your input!
