I have an early 57 posi in my 60. I found someone who has a 60 posi for sale. All things equal, is the 57 more valuable than the 60 or a wash? He wants $500.0 for his old posi.. My posi has no stamping on the pass./right side of unit. Is it an over the counter part?? The previous owner of 39 years, blew a hole in the old rear end and had it replaced at a Chevy dealer years ago. Also did all Chevrolet muncies in the 60's have the VIN stamped on the transmission like Corvettes? Thanks Dick Gutman

Are you talking about only the housing (pumpkin), or a housing with a Posi carrier unit in it? The '57-64 Posi units were made by Dana, and there are virtually no parts available to service them; Eaton now makes a modern Posi unit/carrier to fit the C1 center section that is far superior to the original Dana unit.- Top

John: I am referring to a complete pumpkin unit. I removed one 12 years ago. The way I remember it, is you pull the outer axle shafts far enough out to clear the removal of the center complete pumpkin. Sound right. DG- Top
