2. Why are most Corvette dealer back east selling ( classics)
3. Why are most big car shows back east
4. Why are most arguments over C2's
5. Why do most people back east pay more for parts then out west
6. Why are most great cars back east
7. Why are most restoration shops back east and or the parts rebuilt.
Her in the west Ca. Sucks! and has the least of anything going on.
Inquiring minds wont to know. MINE!!

Only one coast Roy, everyone knows that....the Right Coast. But really, it is probably a matter of population density. As far as C2s go, I think we all know they are the greatest. If they would only come up with kits to turn C1s and C3s into C2s the world would be a better place. I might even solve world hunger. Bill#44207

Because California lies on the San Andreas Fault. So, if you lose your car in an earthquake, then it's your own fault.
I know someone whose home slid off of it's foundation, down the hillside and into the Pacific. When I asked him why he was rebuilding, and not selling, he replied "I like the view"!!!??! It turns out that beachfront property moves further and further inland each year.

Answer to your #4 is; Everyone that ever owned at least two C2's becomes an instant expert on ALL C2's. In fact, you don't even have to own one if you just believe in the nonsense printed in some of the publications available.

Also, since C2 happens to be the most sought after series, and 63 is the single model year that has the most running changes of the series, that's the year that usually winds up at the center of most debates.

I don't have a good explanation as to why most Corvette activity is in the east but you are correct, it seems to be the most active side of the country, by far.

I will take a shot at #5. We in the North East live in the salt belt and most of the old cars have been crushed. Every once in a while some one from the Central US and West Coast will say you should be able to find that part in a junk yard. When you call the junk yard for early parts they just laugh. Supply and demand drives up the prices.

What is it about the C2's?

What is it about the C2's? I don't get it, when ever I take that thing on the road ( which is rare) people stair! The stupid thing takes off and goes to fast , the engine 327-350hp only seems to run good doing 110mph and then wont's to take off the road flying with the birds, I find myself praying weather it will ever come to a stop. OH! Shifting (to many stop signs) has caused my left leg to shorten and now I have a limp, my right hand has trouble opening my fingers. It rides like driving a one ton truck, most of all after working on getting my beer belly built up all winter, now in the summer I sweat like a pig in the coup losing it. Then to add to insult people have to tell me at every stop (WOW neat Vett) Right!!, when I'm getting gas I'm asked if all the numbers are correct and is it original then if I wont to sell it!
If I hesitate they start looking for what's wrong then offer me so much that I could buy a BUG VW.
May be that's why I mostly drive my loving little 55 Corvette, no one ask any thing about it ( most people don't even know it's a Corvette) and I only get replies of how SWEET or CUTE it is.The other big factor is that no one is looking to steal it, not knowing what it is like you guys driving that C2.

I think that it is about what was popular when you were young. As the succeding generations come to that "expendable income" phase of their life, they lust after the car that they could not afford as a kid! I took my 59 out for a drive today, and several people did not even identify it as a Corvette!

I like the C2 cars and early C3 cars as well, and I am building a C2 right now for a daily driver to join my 59 in the garage. While I love restored Corvettes, and have not restored my last one, I like the Resto-mod route for my daily drivers, and I don't do manual transmissions anymore! My 59 has a LS1, auto trans, A/C, power steering, power brakes, and way more "belly room" than it ever had originally, and I enjoy the hell out of driving it. The 65 is getting the new LS2 engine, and it too is getting all the modern comforts as well. I am a pretty big boy, so it is going to be kind of nice to finally have a car to drive where the upper windshield frame is not at eye level! It is pretty much impossible for me to drive the 59 with the top up, even with the 2" lower seating position that I gained with the Wiseguys seats. The couple of times that I have been caught in the rain in a C1, and had to put the top up, I had a horrible crick in my neck after only a few miles from having to lean my head sideways.

the east coast guys need something to keep themselves busy in the winter so they rebuild corvettes. and all the money guys from the left coast send their money east.

I am shocked as I live in the east and always thought the guys on the west coast had access to more and better cars and parts vendors. I thought it was becasue our car "season" is so much shorter.
I thought California was car paradise.
Guess I am in the dark.

Current Southern California beach front property is moving to the North Northwest.

In a few million years, LA will be a suburb to the west of San Franciso on it's way to being a suburb of Anchorage in a few more million years or maybe it's a few hundred million, whatever..., and Palm Springs will be near the beach.

I think maybe the industrial revolution had something to do with it, most manufacturers set up shop on the east coast long ago and although times have changed the Ellis Island crowd and offspring are still here for the most part. And then there's N.Y. which like it or not, pulls the rest of the country behind it. Bottom line, there's more people from N.H. to Florida (Coastal Area) then from Alaska to California.

The grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence..till you get there. California has been a hot bed of racing activity and innovative custom design since the automobile first arrived and the mild climate helped preserve them.

The best cars and parts are where you find them.

I was in Cincinnati last week..and saw two of the best collections in the world. Both east Coast and West guys would give their eyeteeth for the cars there.

I guess Roy would consider Cincinnati an East coast location.

There are plenty of great Corvettes sitting and waiting to be re-discovered..it just takes knowledge, persistance and action.
