9679137 What is it and where can I get one?

I've been replacing the wiring harnesses in my '74 L48 4sp and I came across a box on the rear wiring harness. I have no idea where I can get one or what it may cost. Does anyone know what it does is my next question?

The part you seek is the ignition interlock logic control module used on 1974 and 1974 Corvettes. If I recall correctly, this was the system used on those year cars which prevented you from starting the car unless the seat belts were fastened. It was used on many 1974-75 GM models, not just Corvettes. Most were promptly disabled making the part about which you inquire superfluous. That's probably why your deteriorated part caused you no problems; the system of which it is a part was long ago disabled on your car.

GM #9679137 was the original part number for this component. That number was later discontinued and replaced by GM #9736651. The latter part number was discontinued many years ago, too. If you really feel that you want to replace this part, call Southside Automotive at 612-727-2404. This part went out of the GM parts books at about $60, but I'll bet that Southside has VERY LITTLE call for this item and will make you a good deal on it if you really want one.
