I have 2 questions about a 7042202 carb I recently purchased. It is a Carter built Q-Jet with a very early build date (G1 - July '71). The carb is for the base 350 w/ auto.
Questions:
1) The vacuum break control and bracket, the secondary lockout lever and the fast idle cam are all either painted or plated black. They are not discolored but are a satin black. There is some surface rust on the parts where the paint has worn. Is the black color of these parts normal for a Carter built carb, or am I looking at someone's effort to clean up the carb?
2) The carb has a plastic choke pull off diaphram case. I have seen '72's with both the metal and the plastic cases. Was this a running change during the model year and if so, approx. when did the change over occur?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Mike
