    Silver interior 64 corvette

I yet to see Silver interior on any mid year corvette. Including at Bloomington this year. I have not seen any numbers for interior. Can any one give an estimate for interior colors. Black, Red, White, Saddle, Blue, Silver. The Bloomington & NCRS judges tell me it is rare. Any thoughts!

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Sam------

Silver interior trim was available on 1964-66 Corvettes with black, white, or silver exterior colors. Just how many cars were originally so-equipped I could not tell you. I don't think that anyone can. However, knowing the tastes of folks in the 60's, I would say that silver was probably not too often ordered.

As I have mentioned previously, most Corvettes ordered during the 60's (and, later) were not ordered to an individual customer's specification. They were ordered by the dealer's manager charged with ordering cars for "stock". An interior color like silver would probably not be too commonly ordered since most dealers would probably consider it too hard to find a buyer that wanted it or would accept it.

Joe if Silver is that rare, and it appears to be from every one tells me. In addition it looks very nice! Does this add value to the car? Like K.O wheels do, or other rare options like big tank, F40 special front and rear suspension, Leather seats, etc. I notice at the Bloomington show, a yellow 58 sold for $125K vs the other colors in similar condition selling for much less!

I owned a silver on silver '65 convertible back in the late 80's. Bought it from Frank Beard of ZZ Top. It was a SB with ac, pw, pb, ps, two tops and PG. Great driving car. Damn I wish I had that one back!

20-25 Yrs. ago for the 64 coupe AND

About the same time, also in Medina, NY (same town) someone else had a 66 Conv. silver/silver small block. I am pretty sure the color was changed to make the dark blue/silver 64 coupe. I know the guy who painted it dark blue. I'm thinking it was white when he bought it.

The dealership there is still in the same family (Hartway Motors), but I don't think they were the source of either of these two cars.

                  Sam,

Yes, silver certainly is a rare interior color, especially in 64. I suppose that may be because it was the first year for that interior color. Even more rare is the combination of black with silver interior. I know of a few coupes with this combination but I've only seen one black/silver conv in the last 40 years.

Silver/silver was more popular for 65-66 but still quite rare. I would have to guess that silver was by far the least popular of all the 64-66 interior colors.

Seems to me that the silver interior is few and far between. Too bad they are not documented like the rest of the options on these cars. If they were I bet they would hold allot more weight. Maybe some day they will be! Would you estimate that there are less then 100 out there for each year?

                    Thanks,

                    Sam

                      Re: Silver interior 64 corvette

I have a Daytona Blue Conv. with Silver interior. People ask me all the time how many Silvers are out there. I been involved in this hobby much less then you have. If you were to guess, how many Silver interiors are left for 64. What would it be? Less then 100, Less then 50 or even fewer then that?

                      Thanks,

                      Sam

                        Re: Silver interior 64 corvette

                        Sam,

Daytona blue/silver is another combination that I like a lot. Sure can't be many of this combo around today. I also was wondering how many silver int 64's were left. Impossible to even guess but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if the number was 50, as you mentioned. I know there were quite a few silver/silver cars in 64 but silver with any of the other available exterior colors has to be by far the most rare.

Guessing, I would think that most of the cars that were ordered with black/std interior were ordered by consumers but a lot of the cars with fancy color combos were probably ordered by the dealer for the showroom. As others have mentioned, most people weren't into various int colors for sports cars in the 60's. They were "supposed" to be black.

My first new Corvette was a white 64 coupe with white interior but I didn't order it that way. We originally went to the dealer to order a Daytona blue/blue coupe but happened to see the white car that was in stock. I never would have ordered that combo then but I liked it when I first saw it, so we bought it. I think a lot of the "showroom color combos" sold cars that people didn't originally intend to buy.

Interior colors other than black/std were then considered mom & pop combinations. Almost 65% of new 63 full size Chevy's had that light tan cloth interior.

                          Re:Silver interior 64Corvette

We had 14 red with silver interior cars for the Shrine Corvette Patrol. Picked them up at the factory and I have the photos of delivery. Also have one with Tom Brokaw riding in one of those cars for the TV station KMTV in Omaha. These were all 250 and 300hp automatics. Sometime later in 64 we got a Dark blue FI cpe with a silver interior that was ordered by a customer. GL

I remember the pic that you posted several months ago of all the new COPO 67's. Sure looked strange seeing that color combo in a 67. (I thought they were silver with red interior in previous years?)

The 63s were Silver with Red interiors and I have pics of them too. 67s were white with blue interiors. All with sb and sidepipes.
