Just for G.P. there's a guy out of Pa. That sold a 64 Black on Silver Coupe about 6-8mos ago on e-Bay. Non-match nos. But correct color codes. Goes by the e-Bay handle of IBuyC-5s. has a no. of project type Vettes. May be able to trace the 64 down.

            Joel,

Silver ext/silver int was a rare combination for 66 but someone must have painted/dyed the dash pads silver before you owned the car. Silver dash pads were never available from GM. Pretty sure the IP and pads would have been black.

Come on Michael you should know better..................NEVER say Never! I can recall many vehicles at engineering that had their entire interiores swithced just for a look see by marketing and sales. I'm also sure that said vehicles were sold that way...............didn't effect form or function. I'm not saying that a given combination could be ordered that way, but it could have went out the door that way.

On the Red exterior Silver interior cars we sold in 64 the dash pads were red as was the steering wheel and column. GL

Yup, I surrender. It could have gone out the door that way, but not likely the door at St Louis. The "funny ones" usually came out of engineering/styling in Michigan. And you're right, they did usually eventually find their way to the general public. In the late 70's, one of the guys that bought cars for us, (Gomer) found the Mitchell styling 64 coupe going down the street. The kid that owned it had no clue as to what he had. Had bright blue interior, just like a 65.

Wow, that's an interesting combination. Wonder how that would judge at NCRS/Bloomington today.

                      Sam,
The first Daytona Blue with silver interior, just blew me away! It is still one of the best looking color combo's out there as far as I am concerned.
I am building a 65 resto-mod, and I am thinking about putting a silver interior in it.

                      Regards, John McGraw

Sounds like some of or many of these Silver interior cars may have been C.O.P.O cars? what do you any of you think?

A friend of mine has a silver/silver 396 convert and I remember seeing a 64 dk blue convert with silver interior about 4 yrs ago at the Florida regional auction. Stunning looking car!

It sure would be nice to know how many silver/silver cars left St.Louis. I have a 66 silver on silver car L-36 vert that I bought from the org owner 2 yrs ago with 39,939 org miles. I was really looking for a milano maroon or sunfire yellow car but now that I own this color combo I just love it.....poeple always comment on the interior color. The org owner told me he ordered it that way thru Luby Chev in Denver, Co , trim tags and GM documenation confirm same..... black dash pads and all........

Sam,I am the ORIGINAL owner of a 64 Black coupe with Silver interior, currently going through a body off resto. Traded a 5 month old 1964 Mustang for it in October,1964. Was told by my salesman (Shalla Chevrolet in Detroit) that the car came from the GM Building where it was on display(last of the 64's). I have an interesting article that I will share with you later today or tonight.
