    C1 pinion seal

I need to replace the pinion seal on my 60 but do not have the flange holding tool that is used to counteract the loosening(or tightening) torque to remove or install the flange nut. If I use the internal gear set to withstand the nut torque (with both wheels on the ground), am I going to break or damage anything inside the differential.
    Thanks for any advice
