    Re: Try

I have two Rotary brand symetrical twin post lifts. They are anchored to the floor with 6 5 1/2" anchor bolts per side. The instructions say to use 3,000# concrete mix for the floor. (I poured 5,000#) 4" was the minimum thickness required. I have lifted in excess of 9,000# on both of them at one time or another. Sometimes a car will stay raised for 30 days. I have regularly watched the mounting for movement but have seen none.

      Hi David:
The two post lift usually requires 6" of 3500psi concrete to sit on and my Mohawk has 6 5" bolts holding each riser to the floor. They are great because the underside of the car is completly open. Gary

        John,

I didn't feel too bad that it still took several years to find anything better than what we've got.

          Re: 4 post lifts

Most of the four-post parking lifts flooding the market are made in China by the same manufacturer and resold under another name such as Panther or Propark. One can usually tell as they are the ones offering a complete package including caster kit, drip trays and jack tray all for less than $2000. There is nothing wrong with these per se, but one needs to separate the reseller hype from the facts. So, if you definately want an American-made lift then be sure to confirm that it made here, otherwise don't be surprised if it came from abroad.

If you decide to go with the Chinese lift, the best price I've found so far is from Gregg Smith Equipment http://www.gregsmithequipment.com Their "Propark 7" lift is listed at $1895 but if you tell them you saw it at Carlisle they'll honor the show special price of $1700. They have showrooms in Indiannapolis and Newark, DE. And if you live anywhere near Delaware you can pick it up and save the shipping and the tax as there is no sales tax in that state.

Never underestimate the Chinese and their ability to quickly reverse engineer a product, build it cheaper, then sell it back to us at the ultimate cost of American jobs. It was the flood of Chinese lifts that drove companies like Autolifter out of business. They do it in every category. Just go to any trade show in any industry of your choice and see who are walking around looking to pirate ideas and products to copy.

I did a Google search on "auto lift" and quickly found one of the Chinese suppliers - Qingdao Huakai Automobile Inspection Device Co., Ltd. Here is their link: http://huaki.en.alibaba.com/product/...__FPP208_.html

You too can get in the lift business with a minimum 50 piece order!

            Re: 4 post lifts

I too bought the propark 7 from greg smith equipment sales. I actually purchased it through EBAY a few years ago for $1900 with the mentioned accessories. I think he charged me $125 for dock to dock shipping. Had it delivered to a factory my wife was working at and we slipped the fork lift driver a $20 to put it in a rented box truck for us.

Is it the best lift out there? No. Do I feel safe working under it? Absolutely.

If you look at the main part you drive on they are alike on most lifts because they all come from overseas on the same boat.

                Brian,

Once you got the truck home how did you get the lift out? Piece by piece? Was it a pain? How about assembly?
