Re: Wish you all well and good by
Kurt,
Reading some of your recent posts through my "day job" eyes, I've been wondering recently if you shouldn't be on an antidepressant. As much time, energy and money as you've put into your 68 and getting the details hammered down on that car, I can't figure out why you keep thinking your car will "never be worthy" and why having your car judged would be "humiliating." This isn't the first time you've compared your car to "million dollar trailer queens." And I'd doubt there were any cars there worth $1M unless some race car was present that I'm not aware of.
Some of my comment above is tongue-in-cheek, but having judged cars for 14+ years I can tell you that there can be a LOT of small things "non-typical" or not correct about a car and still have it make a Top Flight. 270 points "allowable" and you'd still have it. I doubt you have 270 one-point items on that car, or even 135 2-point items.
I would say that while some judging events were frustrating when I took my 72 through the Flight and Bowtie systems, overall it was a pleasurable event. Perhaps we could arrange some goal-directed therapy with a good therapist to work on your self esteem?
Seriously, give it some thought. You'll never have a National as close as it will be next year, and I sure hope to meet you there. And, after reading your hundreds of posts over the past several years, I REALLY want to see your 68 in person.
