What a great day! My dream of finding a midyear lost in someones garage has come true. Here it is being delivered by Dr. AAA. By the way, if anyone in the LA area has a body dolly they would like to sell, let me know. I am going to start a frame off as soon as I can empty the other half of the garage.

Re: Bringing Home Baby
Do you need a frame off? If it runs you'd be surprised what a crowd it would bring at a SoCal NCRS meet. You may lose some improtant information about your car if you just rush into a frame off. Don't know your car give us some more info before you tear it apart.

Re: Bringing Home Baby
I agree with Kevin. Lot of valuable info is often lost when people rush in and begin restorations before getting to know the car and it's history. No such thing as "too many pictures" of details before you disassemble the car. Take your time and enjoy it.- Top

Re: Bringing Home Baby
Kevin,
Does that mean I finally did something right? The three cars that I have left today are unrestored, only because I'm now too lazy to restore them. Been driving the 66 425 HP conv all over the country since 1983 and always had plans to restore but never got there.- Top

Re: Bringing Home Baby
I know exactly what you mean about the scratches in the bumper. It's somewhat the same as looking at an old unrestored P51 Mustang airplane and seeing all the scratches on the inside from when it was flown in combat. Each scratch has it's own meaning and story. Just looking at them almost brings out the sound of battle. More character and personality in that cockpit than any restored airplane could ever hope to have.
Old unrestored Corvettes definitely tell the story of past owners and the episodes that the car has been through over the years.
We're probably among a very small group of owners that feel this way though.- Top

Re: Bringing Home Baby
Hi Gary, the car has BB 427/425, Off road exhaust, KO's, PW, Black interior. Has been sitting for about 30 years in a garage a few blocks from where I live. It was the origional owner and he kept EVERYTHING! Lots of docs. The photo makes it look much better than it really is though. Thanks for the responce- Top

Re: Bringing Home Baby
Hey Kevin, the car has not been started in 30 years or so. I'm afraid to even try so I am going to rebuild. Lots of surface rust. I have already got Nolans videos and many manuals. I plan to do this right, no rush, just want to have fun. Thanks- Top

Re: Bringing Home Baby
Harry,
Once again tow that bad boy to the next SoCal NCRS meet,
NCRS is dedicated to the restoration, preservation, history and enjoyment of Corvettes made from the model years 1953 through 2007.
sitting for 30 years lots of original details to behold. Now that we know what you got the questions will start to fly.
