I'm looking at the scoring sheets and I'm confused about two items. In the mechanical section 10 it lists "Ignition shielding" and "Heat shields" as separate items. The Distributor shield is list in a different section.
Does the Ignition shielding refer to the shielding over the spark plugs?
Does the Heat shielding refer to the 'U' shaped shielding behind the exhaust manifolds/pipes?
I just reread the mechanical section 10 you refer to (which is poorly written and contributes to confusion). I believe the V-shaped (U) shielding is a member of the ignition shields while an additional shield installed on the right front protects the plugs and wires from the exhaust manifolds. I would have to get up under my 78 to confirm.

The items you ask about use descriptions sometimes carried over from earlier years.
Ignition Shielding-Is the chrome shields over the rear plugs but that ended at some point.
Heat Shielding- Is the inter shields that cover the spark plugs and is under the chrome shields above or the only shield on the front plugs.
Distributor Shield- In thease years is the one with wings that is over the distributor.
On all the items above the judging changes as to the year as some get full credit because they may not have some of the parts factory installed.
