Anyone with GM Parts Price Book Late 60s

Does anyone have a late 60s or early 70s GM Parts Price Book?
I am looking for two parts # 3940915 &3940917 which are the bracket and clamp for a carburetor idle solenoid. I am told that the parts book will indicate what other GM vehicles used this same part number.
I found one person who wanted to sell me the solenoid and bracket for $850.00 but since I have a brand new in box solenoid and only need the bracket there is no way I am going to pay $850.00
Any help from someone who has these books would be appreciated as it will let me know what other GM vehicles have it.
    Thank you,
    Kurt

Kurt -- looking in my P&A30 Rev. July 1, 1969, you are lucky on one of two.

    Both parts are in Gr. 3.444: The bracket 3940915 is Corvette-only ('68-69 4BC w/H/Per) w/C.A.C. (350,427), and '69 Corvette (C.A.C. w/Sp.H/Per.) (350) --- lists for $ 2.95.

    The clamp 3940917 is also used on '69 Passenger (T.H. 400 w/Sp. H/Per.) (427), as well as Corvette usage: '69-69 (C.A.C. w/H.Per.) w/4BC (350, 427), also on '69 Corvette (T.H. 400 w/H.D.) (427), and listed at $ 2.25.

Of course this is only Chevrolet. Maybe some other GM divisions used it.

      Wayne,

I just checked a 72 printing of the GM price book and it shows only code 5, which is Chevrolet. Looks like no other GM car lines used it.

I found the 3940915 in Gr 3.444 and the 3940917 in Gr 3.440.

Re: Anyone with GM Parts Price Book Late 60s

May 1, 1970 price book has no listing for vehicle -- for either part

January 1, 1974 lists vehicle 5 for both -- no listing in the front of the book for vehicle 5, but no listing for Chevrolet either. If Michael says vehicle line 5 = Chevrolet, I would believe it.

None of us would want to know what those sold for back then.

          Terry,

Here are the car line/numbers for all GM lines as of the early 70's.

          1-Buick

          2-Oldsmobile

          3-Pontiac

          5-Chevrolet

          9-Cadillac

*-Asterisk in the carline column indicates limited usage by that division.

$3-$5 maybe back then; you can bet it was less than $850.00

                Frank,
My car is a 68 coupe so likely the part will not be listed yet in your 65 book.
Also, I am told that it is the Parts Price book that would indicate what other car lines from GM used this part .
Part #s 3940915 & 3940917, bracket and clamp to secure an idle solenoid to the sid eof a Rochester carburetor for 68 with A/C.
                Thanks,
                Kurt

Hi Kurt....I just assumed when you stated late 60's I automaticly thot you were refering to a C2. However I also have a '78 parts book, if that would be of any help. I do not have any cross reference info for GM....Regards Frank

                    Vehicle numbers

Thanks Michael. I thought it strange that both those price books (1970 & 1974) contained the same list of car lines -- without the number 5 or Chevrolet listed.

                      You nailed the prices

                      915 was list 3.25 in 1970, and 3.33 in 1974
                      917 was list 2.40 in 1970, and 2.61 in 1974
Those prices are one of the reasons I don't like to look at those old books. Makes me sick.

                        Kurt,

I might be wrong, but a 1968 327 with a/c did not have the idle solenoid installed on it. The carb idle was set to 750rpm on small block cars with a/c.

Bryan, we see original cars out there with the solenoids, too many to be an owner inspired addition

                            I'm confused (common for me).
Before I go on this search for this elusive bracket, how can I be absolutely sure if I need it or not? The AIM shows it for the big block motors but I could not find anything in the AIM regarding this soloenoid and bracket for the small block cars. HELP !!!

                              Dick,

The 68 AIM shows the idle solenoid for big block cars only.
