Would a diff date code of "C44" be reasonable for a car built May 18, 1964? Thanks. Gary

Gary, are you looking at the cast date or the differential build date? If you have Nolands book, look at page 249 for 64 VIN numbers and associated rear axle dates.

How does this compare with the differential assy date stamped on the bottom of the case ? Sometimes, the carrier casting date (which you quote, March 4th, 1964, located below the left hand output yoke) can be up to 3 or 4 months ahead of the vehicle completion, depending on rarity of the ratio (ie. its demand on the assy line).
