do both
I always wanted a "new vette". So when I bought 71 coupe ten years ago, I drove it for a year then started a 3-4 month out of the year resto on it. Took me five years, but I always had it to drive in the spring-fall seasons. Top Flight three years in-a-row while I put 3k-4k miles on it. two weeks ago I caught a rock in the windshield. Found a replacement windshield with proper date code and had it installed Saturday. I quit worring about theft, damage and rock chips. I keep it in top flight shape but its for driving in good weather. You can do both, just don't be afraid to enjoy it. It is, after all, just a car.
