    powdercoat removal question

I bought new springs for my 69 427, and they came powdercoated. I want to remove all of the coating, but the stuff seems impervious to aircraft stripper, acid, and sand blasting. Is there a chemical out there that will do a good job of removing it? Thanks for the help. Mark

Sand blast or burn it are the only two methods I know of.

I powdercoat a lot of things for protection. Once protected, scuff them up and apply whatever paint over you want. I have used many different types of paint and not had any lifting problems. If you have already applied aircraft stripper, be sure to get it all off.

Eastwood sells a stripper that works. It takes several coats, but worked on a part that didn't come out correctly. You put it on for around 1/2 hour at a time if I remember correctly.
