Roy, I can remember a local DR having a 6 cylinder 55 brand new. I was just a young teenager but remember the car. Used to walk by it on the way to school. About how many 6 cylinder 55's were made? Also a local coal baroness lost his life in a 55 V8 Corvette and his engine ended up in a hot rod around here. I can provide the numbers from the pad someday if you wish. John

I don't think anyone knows that answer but I correspond with three owners that have a 6 cylinder 55, tho I have never seen one in person.

A few years ago, there was a restored '55 chassis with a 6 banger at the Cypress Gradens January meet. I don't remember the owner's name but, I think, he was from Tennessee.

There was a yellow 55 with a 6 cylinder at the NCRS Florida Oldtown meet either last yr or the year before. It had just completed a ground up frame off restoration It was a beautiful car.
The funny thing was that I expected the serial number to be very low (like in the first 25.) But this car had a serial number that was 300 of so into the list of ser numbers. Apparently the story was that the person ordered the car with a 6 cylinder but did not want it right away. Cant tell you about the present owner but he chased the car for years.
