    Re: NOT GUILTY NOT GUILTY

I would ship at the lower cost...This isnt the place for that type of question and I think I can see where this is going.......1.50 in a padded shipper would be ok but you would never know if it made it or not. Thanks JOHN

        Re: NOT GUILTY NOT GUILTY

        Interesting thread!

So what do you do if you order a bunch of parts from a "reputable" vendor and they agree to ship it all in ONE box USPS as per your request, only to have them just go ahead and ship it in multiple boxes via UPS???? It makes $6.50 shipping for a bolt seem like a deal compared to multiple shipping and brokerage costs due to a particular vendor's incompetent shipping department!

Yes there is a story behind that but it shows that even though we agreed on shipping terms that they(or at least this one particular vendor) can still do what ever they want once they have your VISA number!

        What do ya do?......

          Re: Nah

          Jerry,

I tried FedEx ground and am now in a dispute with them. They crushed the box, bent the part and don't want to pay the stated value that I payed for.

They say the fine print on their form limits their liability to $100. They want an estimate or invoice for repairs before they pay that.

I think I will ask an Attorney friend to send them a letter. Maybe that will move them a little.

            Re: Depends on the seller

I asked a couple of ebayer's to check out the U.S.P.S. on parts I purchased from them and in both cases (so far), they were very accomodating and willing to ship their parts at a reduced cost

Just recently I spent a grand total of $1.86 to ship a fuel pump push rod via the U.S.P.S. so I'd say that $8.00 for bolts is a tad steep.

Most times the reason they charge steeper shipping costs is because they have U.P.S. pick items up at their doorsteps so they don't have to run here and there, so they just adopt a "take it or leave it" attitude.

I feel that the shipping charges cited on most ebay sites are purely extra revenue generators.

Sometimes, the repro vendors can win out on the small stuff with their discounts to NCRS members.

            Chuck
