I've been reading up on washer parts recently. In Adams' Restoration Guide Volume 1, he says the '58 - '62 Corvette washer coordinator used the other casting boss (90 degrees away) for the vacuum hose nipple. I think. Would someone familiar with washer coordinators please confirm my interpretation of Noland's description?

Passenger car all the way---the brass outlet is in the wrong port for the Corvette.

On my car, you can move the brass outlet from port to port. It's a slight press fit. Doesn't take much to twist it out and stick it in any port you want.

I don't care whether its NOS in the box, there is no reason to believe the part works - and, that would also apply to a WW Coordinator. It's a crap shoot unless you've got the part and a vacuum pump in your hand...

I should have been more specific. They put the brass elbow into the orifice that was drilled to allow a vacuum source--that's the one they drilled and put the elbow in for passenger cars. If you had both openings drilled, then there would be no need for the brass elbow, because it wouldn't conduct the vacuum that is needed to operate the coordinator. The elbow will fit in either but only one opening is operable.

Some things really chap me.

This auction has gotten under my skin for several reasons. I don't think it's right to sell a part for a "New Old Stock" price without a guarantee its fit and function. Also, I don't appreciate the seller using the NCRS name to endorse his claim of authenticity. And I really dislike auctions with weasel words like "I have this item for sale locally..." and "I'm not a Corvette expert...".

And yet, in spite of my personal disapproval, these things still happen. Perhaps I should just let this one go and concentrate on eliminating the truly evil practice in this hobby: timing an automobile engine "by ear". Just discussing that subject makes my eyes bug out and hot wax shoot out of my ears.

My Christmas wish was for all thieves, scammers and crooks to be thrown off ebay. That is not going to happen. Maybe if they mention "NCRS" in their ad's members should email questions to the sellers correcting them. Some questions are posted at the bottom of the ad. Any thoughts? Dale
