      Can't blame the guy?

Maybe not "blame", but you can sure label him a greedy pig and make it stick.

Re: it may be $1500 to look and see if he has the

I bet it works out like this....$1500.00 up front to check for the records, non-refundable. If he has the records, you pay an additional $13500.00 to get them. Total would be $15000.00 when finished if everything works out right. I think it is a fair deal when you consider that you are getting the documentation that proves your car is the real deal and he is the only person that has it. With the records in hand, you will easily MORE than double the value of your car if you didn't pay too much for it. The only way I would buy an undocumented one would be if I ran across it from a seller that didn't know what he had, etc.

        Take care, Terry

          agree 100%

I think you are entitled to charge whatever the market will bear for documents, but charging $1,500 to get of my @ss and see if I even have such documents (which I will then charge you $15,000 for) is piggy obscene. And this from a hard core captitalist.

to the guy that bought it and since the car as far as i know was the only one built as a plain jane chevelle not a super sport it should bring big bucks

I had the opposite of your 454....

Clem, I gave the buildsheet/paperwork to the new owner when I sold my 72 Chevelle as well. I figured it was one of a very few Z15 + L65 SSs sold. Who would build an SS with a 350/2bbl on purpose? Not to mention it was Metallic Brown (57) with light covert interior (732) and vinyl top! Being a fan of oddities I thought that made it worth more. The guy immediately put a 454 in it and painted it yellow....... Oh well. Eric

                Jerry,
Glad to see you haven't changed your style in expressing yourself. Reminds me from a few weeks back when we discussed Ebay shipping charges.
