Hi, Can anyune give the the current part number for a 1965 327 C60 ps water pump pulley.. The orginal number was 3995643 as best I can research. I know this may not agree with the parts manual but I got this number off an original car. Thanks, Mike

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
Mike-----
Believe me, the GM #3995643 was NEVER originally installed on a 1965 Corvette. I can tell you that with absolute, 100% certainty. The GM #3995643 pulley did not even exist until 1971, so it just couldn't have been originally installed on a 1965. If you found it on an original car, then I can tell you, for sure, that it was a replacement and not the original.
Assuming that the car is a 250 or 300 hp, the original pulley was GM #3850680. That pulley was replaced by GM #3890419 in June, 1966. In December, 1971, the GM #3890419 was discontinued and replaced by GM #3995643, the very pulley that you found on the car. GM #3995643 is now also discontinued without supercession. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
Thanks Joe, The car that was suppose to be original was out at Arts at Bowling Green. I guess it wasn`t as original as I thought. I have three different water pump pullies and two different crank pully set up and none seem to match. I have studied the archives but it wasn`t much help either. It is a 65 350 hp with air and power steering. I will post my part numbers tomorrow night and maybe you or someone might have some ideas. Thanks Again for the info, Mike- Top

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
Mike-----
I cannot be sure exactly which waterpump pulley that a 1965 L-79 with C-60 and N-40 used. However, I think that the original pulley was likely either GM #3850979 or 3848904. GM #3850979 was never available in SERVICE and I think that it's functionally the same as GM #3848904, anyway.
The 3848904 was discontinued many years ago and replaced by GM #3995641. That pulley is still available from GM.
It's also possible that the 1965 L-79 with C-60 and N-40 used the same waterpump pulley as I previously described. In that case, the GM #3995643 would be the correct, current pulley. However, if not, then I'd say that the GM #3995641 should work correctly. It almost has to be one of those 2 pullies. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
Mike,
I'm holding the water pump pulley for my '65 327/350 C60, N40 equipped Corvette in my hand right now. The part number stamped into it is 3848904 with the letters CS just after the numbers. This is an original, unrestored car.
Hope this helps,

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
I know it might be asking a lot but do you have the correct bottom pulley and its part number. I think I have it but not for sure and its too valuable not to ask you. My car was totally stripped when I got it. Thanks for your time. Mike- Top

I believe that the crankshaft pulley for your application was GM #3827843. This pulley was discontinued without supercession more than 25 years ago. I don't think that even the "Pulley King" reproduces this one.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2 Water Pump Pulley Need Help
Thanks Joe, I don`t have that one. I put a search on E-Bay in case one shows up. I might put an ad in the driveline also. I appreciate the information, at least I know what I`m looking for. Mike- Top

I'm very interested in what you find, too. Besides the part number, I'd be interested in the number of grooves, thickness (front-to-rear), and the OD of the pulley. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
