Jeff,

Unfortunately, the front half contains the shaft that the springs and brushes interact with, so when you unscrew it from the back, the removal of the shaft allows the brushes and springs to pop out. That said, bascially that is what I am proposing to do with the only problem being resetting the springs and brushes, and re-attaching the pulley and fan.

Back to Basics

You don't have a 10DN alternator with the hole in the back for the wiring harness clip. What alternator do you have?

If you remove the large nut at the front and the fan, pully, etc, The front half shoul come offclean, shouldn't it? The front bushing and retainer would be attached to the front half. The shaft, stator, and all other parts would remain in the back half. It's been a long time since I have seperated one of these so I might be forgetting something.

How do I tell? It looks exactly like your picture except where the "hole" is there is a slot. On the top right flat surface above the ground bolt is stamped "1100616" over what looks like "2 R(B) 19". On the "resistor" or at least that's what it looks like from the inside (the circular region to the left of the center circle where the shaft seats inside) is stamped "7959455 DR 5MF". Does that help in identifying it.

The front half has "1100750 61A" over 6M15-12VNEG", which should be the correct numbers for my April build 1967 327 with AC.

No the rotor and shaft come off with it. Mine is stamped inside "1958565" with large "9" above it and small "F" on the opposite side. Inside of the face is stamped "sectioned circle CFD" and "11959918".
